Prior to joining Meharry Medical College, Dr. Howard served as the Assistant Dean of Online Education and Expanded Programs at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in establishing, overseeing, and pioneering top ranked degree programs.

Dr. Howard’s commitment to excellence extends beyond administration to research and advocacy. Her scholarly activity includes numerous peer-reviewed publication, grants, and presentations at national and international conferences, highlighting her dedication to advancing graduate education and online student performance research.

Recognized for her expertise in online education she has earned prestigious awards, including the Women of the Year in STEAM Education Award and FECDC’s Pinnacle Leadership Award. One of the greatest teaching innovations accomplished by Dr. Howard are the online 2-week I-CORPS program during the summer bridge programs and the 8-week Health Science Practicums. They are more accessible to students who have busy schedules or who are unable to commit to a long, in-person program.  They are delivered entirely online, which allows students from all over the world to participate.

Dr. Howard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Teaching, a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Project Management, a Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics, and is a certified Clinical Research Coordinator. Dr. Howard is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and a published author, having recently released her book “Authentic Leadership: Navigating Success One Chapter at a Time.
