Leading, Reinventing, and Transforming Global Health Equity

Dear Partner,

I am thrilled to announce the launch of our newly founded Institute of Global Health Equity (IGHE) at Meharry Medical College. The institute will serve as the future home to Meharry’s School of Global Public Health, the first such school at an HBCU dedicated to examining, documenting, educating on, and finding and implementing solutions to the world’s most pressing public health issues impacting marginalized populations.

As we recognize National Minority Health Month, we are reminded of the urgent need to address the persistent and deep-rooted health inequities that exist in our society across the globe. Individuals and communities in the United States and around the world continue to face significant health and longevity challenges. At the Institute of Global Health Equity we aim to learn from and connect with key experts, leaders, and collaborators globally and share what we do best with the world. We are committed to upholding just and equitable opportunities for all to thrive, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.

Our multi-disciplinary team of experts in global health, public health, mental health and healthcare will be working on a variety of innovative initiatives, including research projects, educational programs, leadership development, policy analysis, community engagement programs, all aimed at moving the health equity needle forward. We are committed to partnering with organizations and individuals who share our vision of a healthier, inclusive, and equitable world.

As we embark on this exciting new journey, we are eager to continue our collaboration with you as co-laborers in the health equity movement. We invite you on this effort and thank you for your unwavering support.

Please stay tuned for more on our institute via this newsletter.

Cheers,

Daniel E. Dawes, JD
