BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Tabatabai is a tenured Professor and Director of Biostatistics at Meharry Medical College. In addition, he serves as a member of the Data Science Core for the Tennessee Center for AIDS Research (TN-CFAR). His methodological research includes Hypertabastic survival models https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertabastic_survival_models, Hyperbolastic functions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperbolastic_functions, and their applications in cancer research, health disparity, air pollution, stem cell proliferation and machine learning. In addition, he introduced robust statistical techniques such as robust Taba and TabWil correlations as well as similarity measures https://bmcbioinformatics.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12859-021-04098-4, and their applications in genomics. His current research includes the development of a new and highly accurate growth model called TWW and its application in medical diagnostic tests https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/11779322241290126, as well as the introduction of a new machine learning method called Taba regression https://www.mdpi.com/2306-5354/12/1/2 applied to liver cirrhosis data. He has published over 130 articles in peer reviewed journals and has been honored as the recipient of the prestigious Professor of the Year award by the Meharry Medical College Pre-Alumni Association as well as the Academic Faculty of the Year award by the Meharry Residency Program. He has developed novel statistical methods that are currently being used in a wide variety of fields such as medical, biomedical, engineering and public health across the globe.
